The Westin Charlotte

All the staff were great, and the latte was chef’s kiss, sooo good! The coffee shop offered breakfast items plus salads, sandwiches, drinks, and more. The restaurant had a nice vibe, though we had trouble finding something on the dinner menu we really wanted, so we tried something new instead. Self-parking was easy, and having Whole Foods right beside the hotel was handy. The bed was beautifully made with an extra blanket, and I couldn't wait to get into it. I’d stay here again. The Westin was perfectly placed for the convention center, where I was in town for a volleyball tournament. The lounge was closed for the weekend because of the snowstorm, which confused me since the coffee shop and restaurant were still open. I’d booked this location specifically for breakfast and snacks during the day as a Platinum Elite member. The front desk offered a daily credit to use at the coffee shop or restaurant to make up for the closure.

Good location, decent service, and the views are just okay. Two basic problems with the hotel: the room layout is really cramped. A huge couch beside the twin bed leaves no space to get off the bed or even sit on the couch, so it’s practically useless. Also, room service doesn’t provide water. If you’re attending a conference, remember to get water before heading back to your room.

The gym was roomy, clean, and had a nice range of equipment. Breakfast was another highlight, especially Celeste and Morgan, who were amazing. I slept so well on the very comfortable bed, and that long couch was great too. The bathroom water pressure was good. I had a really lovely stay.

A snowstorm wiped out my Sunday night travel plans, so I cancelled right away. Since I did it at 7 PM instead of 4 PM, apparently three days' notice wasn't enough for a 700-room hotel before a Wednesday stay, and they charged me a cancellation fee. Hope that money was worth it. When I reschedule, finding another mediocre-at-best hotel in this city should be quite a challenge.
