SpringHill Suites Charlotte Southwest

The room layout was nice, and the grounds were well maintained with ample parking. Springhill Suites is just a little above average for a typical suite. Free EV charging is a definite plus if you can use it: there are two NACS (Tesla) chargers and one CCS1 charger. Other guests often blocked the spots, though. Maybe they'd be less likely to do that if the chargers weren't closest to the door. The hotel itself isn't to blame for those guests. There were several design oversights. One side of the bed has power, but the other doesn't, which is annoying for charging devices overnight. Despite plenty of storage, there's nowhere to hang a jacket or bag, and the bathroom has only one towel hook near the shower. The TV placement is odd: I assume it swivels for the couch or bed, but a wall jut-out partly blocks it from the bed. The mattress was terrible. I haven't had this much back pain from a hotel bed in the last decade. There was damaged or missing bathroom trim, especially near the shower, where a fairly large gap could let water seep between the wall and floor tile, an ideal place for mildew to grow. The shower pressure was great, but the toiletries were disappointing. They smelled nice, yet the hand soap and body wash dried out my skin, and there was no lotion in the room. Still, we had a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and informative, the pet fee was very reasonable, and free breakfast was a plus. Those were the only things keeping this above one star.

Just horrible. Thin walls and ceilings, hot water problems, disgusting stains, and motel 6 quality mattresses made for the worst sleep I've ever had in a hotel.

The room I was given didn't match what I'd booked or paid for. We were four adults, and I had reserved two queen beds, but the front desk employee told me he only had a king bed and a sofa. When I explained that wouldn't fit us, he said there were no other rooms. Since I'd already paid and had nowhere else to go, I had to accept it. I spoke to the manager the next day and didn't even get an apology. The customer service here was some of the worst I've experienced at a hotel.

The room was nice, and the staff seemed competent. It’s a fairly new hotel, but a lot went wrong during my stay: the desk lamp, deadbolt, bike, and one elliptical machine didn't work. I also couldn't get the Wi-Fi login or the staycation coupons to work, and breakfast was disappointing. Then the fire alarm went off while we were eating. All of that made the visit a letdown.
