Wingate by Wyndham Charlotte Airport I-85/I-485

My father got stranded at the airport during a bad Charlotte storm after his flight was postponed until the next day. I was hundreds of miles away, anxious about finding him somewhere with availability and a shuttle that would run in the snow. Other nearby hotels gave me a mixed bag: long holds, call centers instead of local staff, pressure to book, and little reassurance about the shuttle. Then Latisha answered at Wingate by Wyndham. She was calm, warm, and helpful from the start, patiently explaining availability and how the shuttle operated in the snow without pushing me to book. She assured me they would look after my father and get him safely to the hotel. That gave me enough confidence to choose this hotel. The shuttle picked him up so he didn't have to sleep on the airport floor, then took him back when his flight was finally cleared to depart. Knowing he was safe was a huge relief. We booked five rooms for eight people on a pleasure and business trip. The hotel is convenient to the airport, but our experience was poor. We had asked by text about the airport shuttle and got no reply for an hour while we waited. Other hotel shuttles came and went, but not ours. When I called, the first person answered without speaking and hung up while I could hear another phone ringing. On the second call, a woman said Luis had to return with the bigger van for our group. About 45 minutes later, the shuttle arrived. Luis was quiet but good. Check-in after 10 p.m. was quick, with all the key cards ready. Suites were the only rooms available. The next morning, none of our five rooms had hot water. I called the desk and got a busy signal, then went down. The desk employee said there was some hot water on the second floor, that she couldn't do anything, and the general manager wouldn't arrive until 1 p.m. Our flight was at 10:30 a.m., so nobody in our group could even take a warm shower. Spending almost $800 for five rooms under those conditions was ridiculous. Breakfast was the usual continental fare, cold and flavorless, though I expected that. We booked the shuttle for 8:30 a.m.; that driver was friendly, talkative, and helpful.

The location is handy for the airport, and the young woman working the night I checked in was the one good part of the stay. She was accommodating while I had to switch rooms three times. The first bathroom had mold, then in the second room water dripped from the ceiling even though I was on the top floor. Nobody offered compensation, which was disappointing.

After a long, late arrival, Miss Latisha greeted us with a lovely smile and a friendly manner, then got us checked in efficiently. I manage a hotel myself, and she really showed what good front desk service should look like. She explained all the hotel details and made us feel welcome, especially over the holidays. The shuttle driver working that evening, December 13, 2025, at 9:45 p.m., was efficient, friendly, and hospitable too. Those two make a great team and helped us start our stay on a wonderful note.
