The whole place smelled awful, and there was noise all around at pretty much every hour. I found crumbs under the bed, and the room didn’t even have a pen or hair conditioner. There’s no breakfast, either. I was there to see friends and have a fun trip, but this feels like a place where people live. With a microwave and little stovetop in the room, people cook strong-smelling food, and the hotel smelled like skunk and Chef Boyardee. Walking past the lobby, the odor hit me harder than anything I’ve smelled before. I paid $280 for two weekend nights after fees, which felt like getting ripped off for such a crappy hotel. Booking.com had shown $230, a more reasonable amount, and online prices seemed to be around 70. At that rate it might have been fine. I should’ve spent more for a good hotel in Charlotte. Paying what felt like a luxury hotel price to stay in a Florida Project-esque place made me pretty mad. If you’re on vacation, don’t stay here.

I’d give zero stars if I could. Since Ms Cayce left as general manager, guest service has been absolutely horrendous. I stayed here over four months and paid weekly. I made a payment on Friday, and they charged my card twice, overdrawing my account. I showed them bank statements and tried to work it out, but they refused. The folio doesn’t match the money taken from my account. Ms Valerie Adams, the assistant manager, just said the charges were right and there were no errors. My bank statements don’t lie. I paid on Friday the 13th, then was away for two days. Ms Valerie called and said I owed $104 when I returned Sunday, and I said that was fine. But when I got back around noon, she said I’d been checked out and owed $156, plus a three-night minimum payment to stay, per Alexa. Another front desk representative had told me Alexa was out of town and unavailable until Monday. When I asked why, Ms Valerie said it was Alexa’s policy and I could deal with it or leave. Today is 3/15/26. How was I charged for that day when my folio says she checked me out at 931am and I arrived at noon? I have a recording of Ms Valerie raising her voice and belittling me in front of other guests before calling the police to escort me off the property and putting me on trespass. She said Norma told her I was sending someone for my things, but that wasn’t what I said. I asked why she hadn’t contacted me directly as assistant manager, and she had no answer. I was treated like the aggressor after complaining. I’m seeking compensation for the charges and the card being used without my permission. There was no credit card authorization on file. Alexa doesn’t seem to care about guests or have people skills. When I raise problems, she acts like she knows nothing, sits at the desk on her computer, and goes outside to smoke cigarettes. I also say Ms Valerie lies, shares people’s business, and accepts alcohol and bribes from guests. I have videos and pictures of her drinking on the job. I tried to handle this in-house, but with so many charges my bank is making me take it further, and this is now going to a lawyer. The place stinks and they don’t clean. I call them scammers and a fraudulent business overcharging guests and putting money in their pockets. I have paperwork, bank statements, and the bank to prove what I’m saying about racketeering. Choice Hotels should drop them before they sink the business. I’m coming for her job because she put me in a bad position and took my money without my consent.

The room had a full-size fridge, stove, and microwave, plus laundry on site. It was very clean, with no bugs or pests, and the staff were friendly and available anytime. Great prices too. I’ll stay again and recommend it.

The staff and manager were very unprofessional. The Black male front desk staff were rude, and Val was rude to disabled people, including me. I couldn’t understand what VRS Sorenson said because it wasn’t clear to me either, and Val refused to answer my questions. She said she was there 24/7. What, does she live there? She wouldn’t answer that, either. A child told my friend that customers could take pizza when no other adult was at the front desk in the lobby. Staff blamed my friend, then the staff and sheriff kicked him out, even though he returned the whole pizza. They didn’t care that it was a misunderstanding. He expects his $209.22 back for three days because he didn’t sleep there overnight. We’re poor and can’t pay more than we should. Are you testing us and driving us crazy? Is this only about business? You don’t work hard enough.

I’m really thankful for the hospitality I received here. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help. The hotel is affordable, with great attractions nearby, and works for an extended stay, work lodging, or just a temporary stop. It’s an unfussy place.
