Wyndham Garden Charlotte Airport Southeast

Getting here from uptown isn’t too bad, but the room was filthy. Fabric surfaces were stained, hard surfaces were dusty, there was hair in the corners, and mold in the shower. The AC was off when I arrived and the fridge was unplugged. It’s a dump. Pay $20 more and stay somewhere else.

I asked for a quiet room and ended up right beside the elevator. The room also had expired toiletries, a broken A/C control panel, a faucet that leaked all night, and a strong mold and mildew smell. The next morning, police were on the property after a guest’s vehicle was stolen, which pretty much summed up the vibe. I booked direct as a Wyndham Rewards Diamond member and expected basic competence. My booking and status got no recognition, and even though the website showed higher room types, I wasn’t upgraded. I asked for a late checkout, or at least somewhere to store my luggage before my flight. They said no to both, offered no solution, and had no manager available. A hotel that can’t store luggage is a new low. I honestly don’t know where the glowing reviews come from. If you care about sleep, cleanliness, or basic service, stay elsewhere.

We only stayed because our airline put us here after we missed a connecting flight. It was 1AM, we had two very young, exhausted kids, our bags were still on the plane, and we were stuck in NC for 24 hours until our flight home. The staff were very, very friendly, the airport shuttle ran both ways, breakfast had a good variety and pretty good food, and being able to walk to Costco helped a lot with the kids. The room itself felt icky. We didn’t notice the vent until morning, but it had so much dirt and dust that it sent our asthmatic into a coughing fit. The tub wasn’t clean, one bed’s sheets smelled like pee, and the door didn’t seem secure. Ceiling pieces were falling in the hall on the way to our room; some doors had plywood, no doorknobs, and padlocks. We didn’t dare turn on the furnace or air. It’s a bed and a room when you’re in a bind, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay here again.

I stayed with my family for a weekend, and the room was poorly cleaned. A bed frame stuck out, the curtain was coming off its frame, and the bathtub drained very slowly. There was a roach in the room, the iron was broken, and the elevator wasn’t working properly. We also needed three or four key cards in one day because they wouldn’t open the door. It was an uncomfortable stay, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
