The owners set us up with someone for a wine tour, which made for a great day. We only stayed one night, but really enjoyed our visit. The room and bed were comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and the social distancing measures made us feel at ease. Highly recommend.

The owners make you feel at home. Breakfast is home cooked and served at 8:30am, with a chance to chat with the other guests. In the evenings there’s a different kind of cookie on a plate outside the door. The bedrooms are pretty and quaint, and the bathrooms are modern. We loved our stay after getting a gift card from a family member. We had a great time at Pippin Hill Winery and Monticello, and exploring the Downtown Mall. One small tip if you use Uber: its location software isn’t great. I’d drop a pin at the driveway and Scottsville Road, since it seems to send drivers to the backyard by another road.

Bob, Carolyn, and their staff made us feel welcome and looked after. They were always ready with restaurant and sightseeing suggestions, including maps and driving directions. Breakfasts were delicious and filling. Outside, the beautifully landscaped grounds felt serene and historic. We watched hummingbirds feed just a few feet away, along with lots of finches and cardinals, and even saw Bambi scamper across the front lawn. The interior was beautifully decorated and immaculate. This is the ultimate bed-and-breakfast stay, and we’ll be back!

We felt spoiled during this delightful stay. The room and bathroom were lovely, and fresh cookies in the afternoon and the fabulous breakfast each morning were a treat. It was easy to get out and sightsee, then come back and relax in such a beautiful place. Thank you for the warm welcome!

We come as a family of twelve to a bed and breakfast every year because we value the charm, intimacy, and work involved in running one. The Inn at Monticello didn’t quite have that feel for us. A relative stayed at a nearby chain hotel because dogs weren’t allowed here, and reported having a lovely dog-friendly room, buffet breakfast, and pool for a third of what we paid. We rented the whole Inn for a family trip and my dad’s 60th birthday. The main house and decor were beautiful, and having a private place to celebrate was meant to be perfect. But the rooms were uncomfortably hot. I understand the house is old and it was a hot time of year, though that didn’t make it comfortable. Breakfast was only acceptable. There was just one option, and while half my picky family ate it, the others pushed it around their plates while sipping the Inn’s only coffee, which had a lot of orange zest. The afternoon cookies were nice, but there was no wine or complimentary beer. The final straw was finding bees under the steps to the Cottage, where my parents were staying. It was clearly the nicest room, with great AC, furnishings, decor, and bathroom, and my dad was the guest of honor. He’s highly allergic to bees. We raised it with Carolyn and Bob, and learned it was a recurring issue. Bob casually came over with a spray can he’d used before and told us not to step on the stairs too loudly.
