Sleep Inn & Suites Monticello

I booked for the pool and convenient access to Monticello, and both were great. The pool was cool and clean, and the room and hotel were comfortable and clean as well. What surprised me was the five-star service at a two-star hotel. Gloria checked us in, showed us around, and even came down to fix our internet and get our apps connected to the TV. She was the highlight of the stay. The morning staff were just as helpful and kind. We'll definitely stay again when we're back this way.

The location was perfect, close to a grocery store and Starbucks for morning coffee, and the room was clean and spacious. But early one morning, while I was in my room wearing only my robe, a male staff member opened the door without knocking or saying who he was. My boyfriend shouted “Hey!” and the employee quickly shut it without an apology or explanation. I was extremely shaken and uncomfortable, and we left shortly afterward because I no longer felt safe there. At checkout, my boyfriend told the front desk what had happened. They did nothing about it and didn't even apologize. It was a very upsetting experience, and I won't stay at this property again. Other than that, my experience was wonderful.

The front desk service was excellent, and the hotel was serviceable for a Choice Hotel, my favorite chain. The rooms were generally clean, though there were a few cleaning misses on one bed and in the bathroom. It's close to Downtown and the Route 53 attractions.

A great little hotel tucked out of the way, and worth the money. The beds are comfy, the rooms are always clean, and the desk staff are kind and helpful. Prices are better than most places except on weekends, when all hotels cost more. I haven't tried breakfast yet. The location is handy, with a 7 eleven and Wawa nearby, plus food lion and a Mexican restaurant and store right behind the hotel. The rooms are soundproof, so you don't hear the next room's TV blaring all night. I'd definitely recommend it.
