The Royal Inn is a budget place to spend the night, and you should keep that in mind when booking. The rooms are dark and could use more lighting, and having hairdryers would help. It's not trying to be a five-star hotel, but I think the owners are good, decent people.

The front desk service was great. The room was clean and had no odor, and the plumbing worked perfectly. A very good place to stay for the money.

There was no quiet or privacy, and I got no sleep. The place was dirty and smelly, the plumbing had problems, and people were partying loudly in the parking lot. Lots of people came and went all night. I left in the middle of the night. Absolutely terrible, the worst hotel I've stayed at. Save your money and book somewhere else.

Dan at the front desk was polite and helpful, and the motel was well managed and quiet. Room 112 was clean, everything was in order, and I slept well. The beds were comfortable, the towels and soap and shampoo were clean, and there was plenty of hot water. The air didn't smell musty or dirty, and the room had a new AC and heater. The TV and lights worked properly. The toilet seat was a little loose, but no big deal. I wish there had been a blow dryer in the room. I travel a lot to different hospitals and stay in motels to save money rather than hotels. This one is a great location and very reasonably priced, so I recommend it. When I come to Charlottesville, Uva Hospital, I'll stay here more often for sure. Sincerely, Dr Auby J

For a cheap motel, it's pretty solid. Good for a few nights when you're on a budget.
