Hyatt Place Charlottesville

The hotel was under construction during our stay, and nobody told us when we booked. If we'd known, we'd have chosen somewhere else. After dinner, we returned to find a letter on our door saying the elevators wouldn't work the next day from 9AM to 6PM. We're old folks on the third floor, and stairs with luggage aren't fun anymore. The elevator had also been lined with dirty padding to protect the walls, so it wasn't a clean space. None of that had been mentioned when we reserved, and staff gave us very poor information. They didn't offer a discount either. Maybe it'll look good once construction is finished, but I'd avoid it in the meantime. The room was fairly clean but worn and could have been better maintained. The beds were lumpy and very uncomfortable.

The rooms are good and the location is decent, but front desk service has gone downhill. On my last visit to Charlottesville, Suzanne gave me a professional, friendly greeting that I still remember. This time a male employee checked me in, and it took forever. He needs more customer service training. Please train the front desk staff properly.

This will be my go-to hotel around Charlottesville. The room was in excellent shape, with lots of space and a comfortable bed. There's plenty of parking nearby, and it's handy to the highway. Shopping, dining, and a movie theater are all within walking distance. It's genuinely one of the best Hyatt properties I've stayed at. Breakfast is now paid and wasn't great, though my Hyatt status got me a voucher.

We were in town for a nearby wedding, and the hotel was clean and well organized. The main issue for me is that pets are allowed in every room. I'm allergic to dogs and think there should be a floor where pets aren't allowed. They said they could clean the room more thoroughly if I told them in advance, and they were willing to check whether a dog had been in my room recently. Still, the whole hotel made me sneeze. Breakfast was pretty typical for a hotel. If you're in the area and don't have a dog allergy, it was perfectly fine.
