The rooftop bar is called The Perch, and it has lovely mountain views, great service, good drinks, and happy hour specials. It doesn’t have a Google page yet. Getting in was a little tricky: park in the garage behind the hotel and enter through the hotel. There are lots of stairs, and someone needs to swipe a card to let you into the elevator. They’re supposedly working on fixing those access issues soon.

When I’m back in Charlottesville, I’ll stay here again. My father was at UVA for surgery and had complications, so I needed to extend my room several times. The staff and management were kind and compassionate throughout, and the room and the rest of the hotel were wonderful. My family and I are deeply grateful to everyone who helped us.

The service was amazing, and the hotel was too. You can leave your toiletries at home: the soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner were all wonderful.

We’d watched The Guesthouse Hotel at UVA go up, so on our way home from HHI we finally stopped to see how it was. It checked every box we had in mind: new, clean, comfortable, minimalist, accommodating, well located, and with great food. Check-in was easy, and Yaser and the front desk team were so helpful. The open stairs, huge ceilings, and all that glass make the common areas feel bright and uncluttered. Our room was spotless, with a great bathroom, soft plush towels, and beds and bedding that were incredibly comfortable. The shower was fantastic, whether using the overhead head, the wand, or both. I also loved the lighted mirror, Molton Brown toiletries, La Colombe espresso maker, mini fridge, and 50-inch TV. The elevator to the rooms is secure and needs a key card. Breakfast was a big reason we came, and BELINDA was every bit as wonderful as we’d hoped. She’s a lovely person and an incredible morning chef. Her omelettes were delicious, and the cinnamon French toast was light, fluffy, and full of flavor. Her pancakes were excellent too, and we hope they make it onto the breakfast menu soon. Joseph, the executive chef, made us a perfect dinner on arrival. The recommended burger was great, with extra-crispy fries, and the ribeye was even better than it sounded, perfectly seasoned and cooked medium rare. We only had room for two dishes, so we’re looking forward to coming back and trying more of Joseph’s menu. Abby and Derrick, who lead their departments, were also kind and welcoming. Thanks to everyone for making our first visit so special.

The rooftop bar is lovely, but parking in the garage was abysmal. The signs were very poor, and getting to the lobby meant walking and climbing stairs. Staff said they’d received many complaints.
