Stay Express Inn Chattanooga

The front desk gentleman was exceptional, so polite, nice, and helpful when checking me in. I told him my disability made writing difficult, and he said not to worry, he’d help. When it was time to sign, he held the paper in place on the counter without me even asking. The room was decent in size, the beds somewhat comfortable, and the shower huge enough for more than one person. But the toilet seat was the wrong fit, leaving a big gap at the front. We couldn’t get the window shade into a position where people couldn’t see into the room, and the place needs more work for a newly renovated property. The lighting behind the building, where our room was, should be better. With a group of guys standing there smoking weed, it didn’t feel safe.

We enjoyed our stay. The lobby people were nice, the room was okay, and coffee from the lobby was good. I do wish there’d been a coffee maker in the room. The location was fine, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the zoo and aquarium were about a 10 minute drive away. I didn’t use housekeeping, so I can’t comment on that.

At about 3 AM, a cockroach crawled across my face, so I left after checking in around 1:30 AM. People were also yelling outside the door in the middle of the night. The room had bugs everywhere, and the place has the dingiest pub filled mattress covers I can imagine. Josh and Joshua were awful and unhelpful. When I told Joshua about the cockroach, the customer service was the rudest and most unprofessional I’ve experienced. The staff were unprofessional, too. I understand why they have a 'sound' refund policy: it took over 45 minutes for all the bugs in the room to make a full debut. Josh and Joshua, please fumigate the rooms and learn some decent customer service. Best of luck.

The bed was comfortable, but the roaches in the room made the stay disgusting. I was there for two nights and otherwise enjoyed my time, though I wish I’d researched the place more beforehand. I’m trying to get a refund, but they have a no refund policy. I feel there should be a strong exception for a situation like this. I haven’t had a roach crawl on me at night, but I’m sure it could happen. I wouldn’t come back or recommend the place, unless you don’t care about roaches.
