Apple Inn Motel

We had four rooms for about two and a half weeks while working nearby. The rooms stayed clean and everything in them worked well. The people on staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. It’s not one of the town’s resorts, but I’d happily stay here again.

The rooms could use some attention: the trim needs paint, there’s caulking to redo in the bathroom, and the carpet is worn enough to replace. Still, the beds were comfortable, and the front desk staff were great and helpful. We switched rooms for the second of our two nights because of availability and booking, which was fine. The pool and hot tub were clean and pleasant, and a soak before bed was nice.

The room had a few basic problems that made the price hard to accept. A lamp wouldn’t stand straight, the shower head kept drooping despite all the plumber’s tape around it, and there wasn’t a comfortable chair. One bed was in a separate room with only a regular fan and an open window on the building’s hottest south side. It was around 100 degrees both days. The old AC unit had to be turned on by staff, barely cooled the room, and made a loud, unpleasant noise every five minutes or so all night. I was on the main level and didn’t feel safe. There were plenty of other quirky, damaged, or nonworking things too, and the room didn’t compare well with other hotels I’ve stayed in. This motel seems to present itself as more upscale than it is. Others in my party felt the same way. I booked on 8/30/25 for the night of 8/31/25 because of pet issues. I couldn’t reserve earlier. I was told the available room’s usual rate was $119.00, but paid $299.00 for that night. I was meeting a relative who was staying there, so I accepted it, though I told the front desk at checkout it wasn’t a $300.00 room. My arrival was on the 31st, not Labor Day. I also asked about staying a second night and was told it would be $109.00. The next morning, when I called to confirm, I was told I’d have to switch rooms and pay $139.00. I couldn’t use the usual discounts, including AAA, for both days, and nobody offered any flexibility when I pointed out what I’d been told the day before. I’d already been told discounts weren’t available for the first night either. At checkout time I got a message saying my room card wouldn’t work and I’d need to use a digital message on my phone to enter. The front desk said I could come to the office for reactivation, so I did. My AAA discount was then applied to the second day only, for a credit of $20.00. I’d appreciate any additional credit for the first night. If that doesn’t happen, I may dispute the charge with my credit card company.

We spent two weeks here and had no complaints. Everything about the place was great. I didn’t use the pool or hot tub, or the barbecue area, but both facilities were there and I saw other people enjoying them.
