Chestnut Tree Inn - Cherokee

The lobby looks great, and the staff were friendly. Our room was tidy, but the sink drained slowly, the showerhead needs replacing, and the spring mattress is due for an update. The phone also didn't work, so the front desk couldn't hear me. They offer a breakfast bag each morning. With a few repairs, this could be a good value.

The grounds and views were the first things I noticed. There are fountains, lovely lawns, and plenty of spots to sit by a fire or in the sunroom near the registration office. The halls have beautiful art and pictures that help you appreciate the area, and there's what I'd call a convention center too. The pool gets great sun, and there's a playground. I arrived early after being in town for a few days, so having laundry on site was handy. It's a clean place, as the pictures show, and coffee outside in the morning is a must. Best of all, the free breakfast is a real, full breakfast. If you're in Cherokee NC, this is a must stay!

The free breakfast buffet was great, with hot, good food before I left. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Mr.John, the maintenance supervisor, also fixed the only issue I had, the toilet. I stayed in room 150, a couple of miles from the casino, for only 53.00 in February. I love it here and will be back. The queen bed was the softest I've ever slept in.

The staff were great, which is where the three stars come from. When we found makeup on the pillowcases, they replaced them, and they swapped out our broken mini fridge right away without any fuss. The bed was extremely hard, with springs sticking out, but we figured we could manage for two nights. Then I went to shower and only three holes in the showerhead had water. It was barely warm, with no hot water at all. Those little problems usually don't get to me, but not being able to shower really upset me. Worst hotel stay we've had, and I wouldn't come back.
