Starrett House

The home is lovely, well located, and the room and bathroom were clean. Staff were accessible, friendly, and responsive. It was well below freezing outside and a boiler problem, no one’s fault, left the house very cold when we woke up. Breakfast was laid out with no way to keep it warm, so the food cooled quickly. That would be a problem even at normal indoor temperatures. The breakfast description also made it sound more varied than it was: we got no fruit or baked goods beyond English muffins and bagels. Maybe the heating trouble threw breakfast off. It wasn’t a perfect stay, but I’d definitely give it another try.

This is a great place to stay in uptown Port Townsend, and part of the room cost goes to a nonprofit while another part is saved for renovations. The room was quaint. Since it’s an older house, the walls are paper thin, though we knew that when we booked and it didn’t bother us. The staff were very helpful, and breakfast was hearty.

We didn’t spot any resident ghosts, but we had a very nice stay in Port Townsend. Shops and good restaurants are just a short walk away.

We stayed two nights in the Drawing Room during summer 2025 and loved the house and Port Townsend. The room is big, with a four-poster king bed, a very comfortable mattress, and nice-quality sheets and pillows. Older furniture fits the house’s character. There’s a large slipper tub in the room rather than the bathroom, plus a small pedestal sink in the room and a toilet tucked in a tiny closet. The room and accommodations are quirky but comfortable, with a beautiful view. The shared areas are gorgeous, and inside the historic home is lovely and well maintained. The exterior could use paint, and the floors aren’t perfectly finished; don’t expect modern furniture either. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. The house is on a corner lot in uptown, with groceries, cafes, galleries, and a summer Saturday farmers market nearby. You can walk to the waterfront, though it’s down a steep hill and a big set of stairs; there’s plenty of parking by the water if that walk is a problem. Port Townsend is friendly and artsy, with great food. Summer stays pleasantly cool, and we were glad to have layers when the evening breeze picked up. Thank you, Kimber, we’ll be back!
