Days Inn by Wyndham Cherokee Near Casino

We left within ten minutes and booked somewhere else, even though walking away meant losing $146. That felt like the best waste of money ever. We'd mistakenly reserved a smoking room, which was my fault since I didn't realize those still existed, but the ashtray smell was brutal. We'd stayed in smoking rooms in the 70s and 80s, yet this one was overwhelming. There were cigarette burn holes in the comforter and stains on the bed skirt. The front desk said they had no vacancy and could only offer special anti-smoke deodorant, which didn't help. The comforter was so disgusting we wouldn't even put our belongings on it, let alone lie under it.

The room was clean and spacious, and I could park right outside. Getting through the door was a struggle every time because it was badly jammed. Breakfast was limited: waffles, juice, oats and cereal. I didn't see eggs or sausage when I went down around 9 on Thursday. I stayed Wednesday night in mid-October while driving from Fontana Dam to Biltmore Estate, so the location worked well along the route. Check-in was easy since they'd arranged text messages beforehand and I could tell them my arrival time. After a long day hiking, the man at reception kindly let me fill all my water bottles from the juice dispensers in the breakfast area. I think I left a shirt behind, but never heard from them, which is fine, my fault.

At least it's near the casino, but the sheets made us itch and kept slipping off, and the room smelled bad. While walking our dogs, we saw cigarette butts on the steps and sidewalk. Disgusting. This place needs a lot of cleaning up.

This place is gross. The floors were caked with dirt and grime, the bathroom vent fan was disgusting, and only half the lamp between the beds worked. Even the light switch by the entrance was broken. See the photos. Don't stay here.
