We paid $140 for a place that felt like one star in every way except the view. Take a nice walk or go to the casino, then stay somewhere else for that money and skip the river view. The room smelled strongly of dog pee, so we kept the balcony door open the whole time. The office had the same smell when we walked in. The woman was nice, but had greasy, unwashed hair, and a little yippie dog ran up barking. Another staff member was complaining about all the bedding laundry. I worried the dog might get out and run off. As someone with three dogs, I wondered whether they know how to clean up after pets at a pet friendly hotel. They need enzyme cleaners, to take dogs outside to potty, and to bathe them. There was also swimwear under the bed that my husband found while checking we had everything. It was December, and nobody had used the pool since at least September, so why hadn't the floor been swept and mopped since it closed? The bed wasn't open all the way underneath either, with only about a foot of space before the box spring.

The rooms were dated, but clean, and the small coffee pot was a nice extra for me. I was glad they had a pet room available on short notice on a Saturday night in October. The woman in the office was very nice. Thank you.

Whenever we're in Cherokee, we stay here. The owner is nice, and pets are welcome. It's comfortable, right by the river, and close enough to walk to almost everything we like doing here.

Y'all have to remember you're in the mountains, it isn't busy all the time. We really enjoyed staying here. The view was amazing, the room was clean, and the staff were friendly and knew the area. I had trouble reaching the office, though. They need to update the website and include the office hours. Still, we enjoyed the stay a lot and will come back.

We were charged over $500 for two nights for two “Non smoking” rooms, about average, but the rooms smelled of cigarettes. The beds had stained linen and pet hair, wall boards were half hanging off from water damage, and there were holes in the closet door that I assume were punched in. The mattress was smaller than its frame. When I walked around it, I smashed my shin so badly I'd rather have hit a truck's ball hitch at full speed. We asked for air freshener, clean linen and mattress covers. They gave us a full refund receipt, which I appreciated, but then said we had five minutes to leave, after four people's luggage, including our child's, had already been unloaded. Their reason was “3 complaints in 10 minutes of being here.” We felt the complaints were valid after paying almost $600. The maintenance was piss poor and the service horrible. If the rooms had been properly cleaned and checked before we arrived, we might have put up with the smell and loose panels. We couldn't accept the pet hair, brown stains and completely disrespectful staff. My grandmother had made the complaint. The owner brought a receipt to my grandfather and refused to speak to him or me, although neither of us had spoken to him or disrespected him. We had booked rooms already for another vacation in August, after I'd stayed here for six years in a row and 15 years total. Instead we found Rolling Hills Lodge down the road. The service and cleanliness were 10/10, and they had free breakfast and coffee, clean, very updated rooms, and hospitable owners. Their prices were cheaper for 500x better service. I'll stay at Rolling Hills in August and won't spend another cent at Drama Inn.
