SpringHill Suites Chester

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful both in the evening and the morning, and the room looked in great shape. We’re from the area and knew SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Chester, VA was one of the newest hotels. Still, housekeeping left me wondering if our room had been properly cleaned. There was a black balloon on top of the desk awning, push pins in the wall, stickers taped below the TV, and trash on the floor between the bed and nightstand, as if a party had happened there. The bed and bathroom looked clean to the naked eye after I checked. Management should retrain housekeeping, especially whoever cleaned our room.

I came here for “Walk for peace” and found the team very supportive of the community. The place feels safe, the environment is lovely, and the location is good. The hotel was very clean, with a lovely pool and gym. Staff were so friendly and helpful. I’d definitely recommend it and would come back soon.

At 11:15 pm, the girls stepped into the hallway during my daughter’s birthday sleepover. I know that may have been inappropriate if it caused noise or a disturbance, but we hadn’t been out there long when a staff member came up yelling at us. She didn’t speak to me directly, just shouted, “Y'all can either be quiet or leave!” and then said she’d had complaints the night before, even though we weren’t there then. I was standing with eight other 12 year old girls while she yelled that she wasn’t having it tonight and we could leave. She walked off saying she was the only one on duty and I could call the General Manager Monday. If you check the cameras, you’ll see how nasty she was. She could have handled it much better, and I’ll be contacting him.

The lobby is nice, but the rooms need attention. We had to switch rooms, and both smelled like water damage and mold. My allergies are going crazy, and I think it may be the AC. The bathroom barn doors stick badly and squeak, the carpet is hard and doesn’t feel clean, and the stained shower floor was slippery and looked uncleaned. The chair in the second room was broken. I hope to avoid staying here until they update things and make repairs.
