Quality Inn

We stopped here for one night on the way back to Chicago. The woman at the service desk was friendly, and check-in went smoothly. Still, our room needed more cleaning. Someone had left a pair of thong underwear on the luggage rack, and the pillows were small and not very comfortable. My husband liked the firm mattress, though. One night was okay, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer.

We arrived around 8 a.m. after an exhausting night of travel, and the young woman at the desk was incredibly kind. Our airline had changed the flight twice, so we left SFO at 11:30 p.m., landed at ORD at 5 a.m., rented a car, and drove to Chesterton. We’d reserved a room at the Quality Inn for that night. They didn’t have to let us check in seven full hours early, but we were desperate after being up all night. She checked us in and even invited us to have breakfast before heading to the room to collapse. That was some of the best hotel customer service I’ve ever had. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the hotel was conveniently located near downtown Chesterton and the Indiana Dunes state and national parks. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone.

The front desk staff were welcoming and very kind, but the room wasn’t clean enough. There was mold on the heater and in the shower, so I didn’t shower. Dust was everywhere, even on the sink, and there were loose wires. Breakfast was average, with bagels, cereal, waffles, and similar options. The coffee tasted watered down. Overall, it wasn’t the best hotel.

The food and service were both great, and Lisa at the front desk made a huge difference to our trip. We were driving from Pennsylvania to Washington state and had been going through real trials and tribulations until we walked in. Lisa was like an angel, passionate about the national park and very knowledgeable. She was exactly the person we needed to meet. Thank you, Lisa.
