Mt Gilead Motel

I will NEVER stay here again. We came for a weeklong work trip and thought this hotel would be okay. When we arrived, the staff weren't rude, just cold. They required a $250 deposit, and wouldn't let us into the lobby. We handled everything over the phone through a window. The room was dirty and stinky, with brown ooze coming off the walls in both the bedroom and bathroom, and foul carpets. The only blanket was the decorative one shown in the booking photos. There was no top sheet, and the pillows were wrapped in plastic like I was in a hospital. I'm non-confrontational, and most rooms seemed unavailable because they had A/C covers, so I tried to put up with it. I bought a mattress cover, blankets, pillows, and, most importantly, candles. We got through the week. Not one other person arrived during our entire stay, even though it's a pretty large establishment. They did bring towels and take the trash. At checkout, they still wouldn't let us inside and said they'd keep the $250 deposit if the room was dirty at all. We said no, the room had been lived in for a week, and they tried to reduce the charge to $50. We'd taken pictures before leaving and told them we'd call the police if any money was kept. The full amount was refunded to the card.

Friendly staff and a clean room, with no complaints about the stay. I'd come back, though I'm still waiting for the $100 deposit to be returned to my account.

We got in late, and the desk clerk was very nice. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the price was reasonable. A good stay.

It's somewhere to lay your head, though it looked better in the old photos.
