ACME Hotel Chicago, Outset Collection by Hilton

We had a spacious queen room with a city view, a kitchenette next to it, and couch seating. The hotel jacuzzi had ski lodge decor and could feel romantic if you happened to have it to yourself. Acme is in a central spot around River North and Mag Mile. It has the usual hotel service, but with one of a kind decor and a unique rock n roll vibe. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for something different.

The whirlpool area was my favorite, with its bunny slope après-ski theme. It felt like a spa of its own, and was a great place to unwind after a long travel day. It’s also a fun spot for photos. The gym isn’t huge, but it has what you need to stay active, including a boxing bag you don’t see in most hotel gyms. I’d just moved to Chicago and needed somewhere to stay while I waited for my furniture to arrive. The hotel is on Ohio Street in a great area, close to lots of bars and restaurants downtown. It has a distinctive feel, from the music in the elevators to the album cover decor inside them. Fun and cultured. The rooms are comfortable and well done.

The front desk is lucky to have Michael. He’s smooth, does things the right way, and deserves all the respect, stars, and high fives. Other front desk staff could learn from him. The walk-in shower would be handy for anyone who happened to break her foot before arriving. Hypothetically, of course. The room table is roomier than you get in lots of bigger rooms, good for eating or gaming. The glowing lips in the bathroom are rad, and the onsite bakery is dope. A clean freak I came with noticed the fresh, clean smell as soon as we walked into the room. Recommended all around.

The beds were comfortable, and that’s the only good thing I can say. Our room and the hallways and entryway smelled strongly of weed, and customer service was lacking. I booked a king room but opened the door to find a queen bed. When I called the front desk, they said only king suites were available and called it an upgrade. Isn’t that what you should offer when the room someone booked isn’t available? Instead of downgrading them? The man at the desk grudgingly gave us a king suite, which wasn’t much bigger than a regular king room.
