The building stays clean, and the residents are respectful and gracious, with singles, families, and different lifestyles represented. There’s a strong sense of community, helped along by regular activities, food trucks, and programs from the management team. Management is friendly and transparent, and shares information promptly and proactively.

I lived in the building for a year in 2025, and I’m writing this after trying another building in the area for comparison. The staff were absolutely amazing, and I never had any problems with my apartment or the building. I’d recommend it as a great place to stay in downtown Chicago.

I’m in my second year at Columbus Plaza and will renew my lease without a second thought. I waited a year to review so I could give a fully unbiased opinion. Finding an apartment in Chicago is tough, but this one has made a huge positive difference to my mental health and feels like the personal home I hoped for. The community is peaceful and neighbors are friendly. I’ve never had an awkward elevator ride or run into a rude neighbor. If a package is too big, staff or neighbors will help with a door or hold the elevator. Even from the tour, the place felt like home. The views are breathtaking on every floor, from the 2nd to the 48th. Most days I don’t close the blinds. When I’m at work, I look forward to going home and seeing the view. I thought about getting a painting of the Chicago skyline, then realized I could just look outside. It’s like a 3D painting. The amenities make life so convenient. The fitness center covers the basics, and the Skydeck on the 48th floor gives you the whole skyline in every direction. The study room is relaxing, and I sometimes work there. Best part, you get 10 free cups of delicious coffee every month. Columbus Plaza connects to the Hyatt, Marianos, and plenty of other restaurants and facilities through the underground Pedway. Running errands and going out is easy without even stepping outside, which is essential in Chicago winters. That really sets it apart from other apartments in Chicago. The management team is professional, helpful, and very approachable. They don’t have that stuck-up attitude I’ve seen at other apartments. Everyone says hello, and their conversations feel genuine. They make residents a priority. One Sunday morning, I had a bathroom problem and maintenance handled the request immediately. I thought it would wait until Monday, so the fact that they came that Sunday says a lot about how much staff values residents and how dedicated they are. The staff, community, neighbors, location, views, and apartment have made this an extraordinary place to live. I love it, look forward to renewing every year, and can say with full confidence I’ll live here forever. The tour will blow you away, and choosing this place is a decision you’ll never regret. I can promise that. Check it out!

We’ve been here nine and a half years. The first eight were mostly okay, with the usual issues for a building this size, and management was pleasant and understanding. The past year and a half, though, has been a nightmare. The elevators have been under repair for 18 months and often don’t work. There are four serving the 48 floors and more than 650 apartments, but two have been out of service for quite some time, and one is reserved as a freight elevator for moves. Waiting 15 to 45 minutes for an elevator is hard to believe. Most of the washers and dryers are also broken, and the new management is unfriendly and highly unprofessional. The pipes are very old and rusted. We’ve had three floods in our unit from busted pipes, with no compensation for the days we couldn’t use part of the apartment. Our insurance has gone up by over $1,000.00 per year. I’d give zero stars if I could.
