Historic Charm in Downtown Chicago

Our March 2025 reservation for a May trip was cancelled just three days before we were due to arrive, with the hotel blaming a maintenance issue. The email claimed we hadn't been charged, even though they'd taken more than $820 from us in March. Thank goodness Expedia and our trip insurance helped, and an Expedia rep found us another hotel. Nobody needs that kind of travel stress.

They asked me at the last minute to cancel because of a maintenance issue, just like other reviewers describe. Yet rooms were still available to book online. I reported it to hotels.com and suggested they look at the reviews here.

I booked a month ahead, but the hotel cancelled my reservation only a week before the trip, citing an unexpected maintenance problem. That short notice was frustrating, especially since hotel prices in the area had gone up so much by then.

The noise made it impossible to get decent sleep. The walls are so thin you hear what the neighbors are doing, and while a music festival was in town, other guests partied until 3am. They were also smoking weed in the corridor, and the smell came into our room. I wouldn't stay here if you value sleep or have children.
