We booked two nights but left after the first because the room was awful. It smelled strongly of cigarettes, the air conditioner didn't work, and there was mold in the shower and on the curtain. Crud was splattered on the walls and doors. The room door took force to lock, then force again to open; my husband was strong enough to manage it, but otherwise we couldn't have. The front desk sign says there are no refunds. Given the condition, I can see why people might leave after checking in.

We paid fifty dollars for room 125 for me, my boyfriend, and our dog, and were happy with what we got. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, there were no roaches, and the heat worked. Staff were friendly in the morning, waving and saying goodbye as we left. When we asked about weekly rates, one of them offered a great price and showed us another room they called better. Service was great, the room was decent for the money, and the pet fee was only $5. We'd stay again. Thanks!

Lamplighter Inn in Childersburg, Al is right on 280, with a liquor store at the location and restaurants and gas stations within walking distance. It's the cheapest motel in Childersburg, and the rooms have been updated with paint, new furnishings, and mattresses. Highly recommend it.

The staff and management were wonderful and very accommodating, and the quiet rooms were clean with no riff raff like in the past. The place is being revamped. They charge 10 a pet, and we found no bed bugs or roaches. The price is about half what other area motels charge, which really helped us during our move. Check them out.
