Motel 6 – Chillicothe, MO

My mother returned to her room to find her bags open and her things gone through, even though she’d carefully closed them and positioned the zippers a certain way. Nothing she packed was especially valuable, but a few small things were missing, including coffee, a protein shake, and candy she had just bought to take home for her family for Easter. Having someone go through her belongings while she was away felt violating and disturbing. Management showed little concern when she contacted them. They said an HVAC person had been in the room while she was gone. When asked whether she should call the police, they said she could go ahead. She filed a police report. She had paid for the room and had her privacy violated, yet management didn’t seem to care. At checkout today, they suddenly acted concerned and claimed the manager stayed with the HVAC person the whole time, leaving the cleaning crew to only empty the trash. The disrespect and lack of empathy were disgusting. Avoid this place or lock up your belongings.
