Best Western Canyon De Chelly Inn

Ms. Carlelisha made check-in easy after a long day of work and driving. I got there around 9 p.m. with a lot to carry, and she moved me from the second floor to a ground-floor room without any hassle. She greeted me warmly, and her kindness and professionalism would earn 10 stars on their own. The room was a letdown. When I returned to the tub, the water had turned orange-brown. I let it run for several minutes, but it stayed that way, and it never got hotter than barely lukewarm. The tub's repainting also looked rough and poorly done. I had to put off showering until morning, when the water still wasn't warm or hot. The room felt old, outdated, and worn down.

The room was spotless, the shower was great, and the beds were comfortable enough that I slept well. But by about 6 a.m., I could hear people in the rooms next door and below me talking, moving around, and opening and closing doors. I could even feel and hear people walking past. Housekeeping started on vacant rooms around 7:30 or 8, and I heard everything, from the vacuum to their laughter and talk about needing more toilet bowl cleaner. We had driven all day and had a late night, and I wanted extra sleep. Instead, I was awake by 6:30 along with everyone else, without choosing to be. I was passing through around 10:30 or 11 p.m. and there weren't many nearby options, so I accepted the higher price. The front desk woman at check-in didn't seem very friendly, though maybe she'd had a rough night. When I checked out, another woman at the desk didn't look at or acknowledge me. I had to start the conversation after waiting a few seconds. I'm not impressed and wouldn't recommend staying here. Drive somewhere else for better service and sleep at a lower price.

The room was clean, and although the bathroom was small, it was very nice. I stayed one night while visiting Canyon de Chelly, and the lodge's location close to the canyon was great. There's a restaurant next door, but it closes early, and breakfast isn't served here. The ice machine near my room was broken. Be cautious with third-party bookings. They couldn't find my reservation, possibly because the confirmation number had been entered incorrectly, so I had to show my email to prove I'd booked.

I had an accessible room, and it was beautiful. The rooms have been revamped, and the price is reasonable. Staff were friendly, and the lobby had free coffee, cookies, and pretzels. There's also a small gift shop with a nice selection, including T-shirts, books, dolls, and beautifully handcrafted jewelry at reasonable prices.
