We had a spotless, relaxing stay, with really friendly staff who suggested great hikes and ways to see what Valdez has to offer. The views were beautiful, the meals were good, and it had that beach town feel.

The landlord was so welcoming that it felt easy to settle in. The place was clean and well cared for, with a roomy shared living space, free laundry, and a generous breakfast selection that had clearly been put together with care.

The two big guest common areas were a nice perk, with couches, books, tables, and even a massage chair. Laundry is free, too. Breakfast had baked goods, boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, and a range of hot and cold drinks when we visited. The themed rooms were clean, and the hosts were friendly and knew the area well. I'd recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone staying nearby.

House on the rock was one of the most comfortable, immaculate places I've stayed, and leaving after our Alaska trip was hard. We spent three nights there on our way to Valdez, after three days in Anchorage. The scenic drive to Valdez was breathtaking, and the town itself was just as beautiful and peaceful as anywhere we saw. Our host family was warm, professional, and genuinely lovely. Breakfast was simple and fresh, and the rooms were spotless with fresh linen, which meant a lot to me as a clean freak. Thank you, Bill and his lovely wife, for making us feel at home and making the trip so memorable. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting that home away from home feeling. I hope I can return to Valdez someday, maybe in January, and enjoy your hospitality again. Regards from Sandeep and Divya Rajdev from fort Wayne Indiana.

We stayed two nights in May 2024, on our first visit to Valdez. House on the Rock B&B is in a quiet residential neighborhood, with parking in front and a fairly long walk to the marina and shops. We had a car, so the distance was no issue. Lisa greeted us in a friendly, professional way. She lives upstairs, while the four guest rooms are downstairs around the shared kitchen and dining area. Each room has an animal theme and its own small bathroom. We were in the Bear Room. It felt more homey than a typical motel, and was clean and comfortable, though the shower was cramped. There was plenty of hot water. The kitchen had breakfast foods, dishes, utensils, and appliances for guests to prepare a morning meal. Guests wash their own dishes and tidy the shared space. Lisa let us use the washer and dryer at no extra charge. The books offered some local history, and there were tourist brochures and maps as well. Two other guests were there during our stay, and they were quiet, friendly, and respectful. We enjoyed chatting at breakfast and slept well. We were very pleased with the visit.
