Comfort Suites Cincinnati University - Downtown

There was so much snow that I couldn’t get home, so I booked a room near my workplace. I’d forgotten my flip-flops and expected the hotel floor to be filthy, so I wore white socks and figured I’d throw them away. After walking around in them both evenings, though, the bottoms were still white and looked new. I was honestly shocked. I showed them to the assistant manager, and she smiled proudly. The floors are hardwood and they actually steam clean them. On my first night, I got back late and all the restaurants were closed because of the weather. The assistant manager made food for my coworker and me. The rooms were large and clean, and the staff went way beyond what I expected. I’d stay there just for the heck of it. Give them a try, I highly recommend them.

I’ve stayed here for nine nights and really like it. The room was much wider than I expected, bigger than rooms at any other hotel I’ve stayed in. All the staff are friendly, and breakfast had an even wider selection than the hotel where I stayed in Boston.

The front desk lady was absolutely amazing, and if it weren’t for her, we’d have found somewhere else for the weekend. I could also tell the manager on duty cared about her employees enough to send them home before a winter storm. The place has its nice points, but housekeeping needs to care about it too. Under the pullout couch there was sticky, gooey mess, the TVs were smeared with all kinds of gross stuff, and the tub hadn’t been cleaned and drained poorly. The pool is definitely a kiddie pool. On the third floor there were red, blood-looking stains in several spots and other questionable marks along the way to and from the elevator. I’m used to a $50 hold for possible room damage, but this place charges $150. I wouldn’t have blinked at that if my room had been cleaned properly and those red stains weren’t there.

Really good value, and a nicer place to stay for the price. The modern room had great furniture, a comfy bed and pillows, a nice shower, and the service and breakfast were both great. It was a $6 Uber ride downtown. The couch and footrest had dried sticky stains, like someone had eaten there the night before. I cleaned those, along with a couple of spots on the counter below the TV. With more attention to detail and amenities, this would be an excellent rating for me.
