BED BUGS. I was supposed to stay here in April 2025, and this review is long overdue. As soon as I got into the room, I checked the bed, like I always do. Thank goodness, because I’d never seen bed bugs before. We took a photo after a minute, grabbed our bags, went downstairs, and got a refund. The front desk staff didn’t seem alarmed. They said bed bugs were bad in the area and that, especially in spring, they’d been treating the rooms often. I put off posting because I didn’t want the worker to get in trouble, but an infestation could affect someone’s life for years. I’m still shaken, and now I check every hotel room for bed bugs.

The hotel itself was extremely nice, and I’d recommend it if you want to stay in central Norwood, Ohio while visiting for business. The bistro looked appealing, but the selection was pretty limited. It also seemed short-staffed: while I sat there, the tenant kept going back into the kitchen, and I saw four or five customers give up waiting and leave.

I travel for work a lot, and I’ve never found a queen room at this price with two bathrooms and a big kitchen and sitting area. It was very quiet despite being on a main road near lots of restaurants, and there was white noise in each bathroom. I’d have preferred softer beds, but that’s just my preference. The valet is shared with the hotel across the way, so it was slower than I like. Great place.

The room was clean and well kept, but we couldn’t get it warmer than about 67, even on the second floor. When I asked the front desk attendant, he got an attitude and blamed the door opening. I asked how that affected the second floor. The lobby was 40 degrees, too. The Marriott Residence next door was warm and had free breakfast, so skip this hotel.

After a four-hour drive for my Sister’s 50th Birthday, we had a miserable check-in. The manager wasn’t compassionate or good with customers. She said we couldn’t stay there or at the hotel across the street because I’d used the wrong code on the reservation. I’ve always used that code, so I didn’t understand the issue. While we were trying to figure out where to go on a weekend when rooms were booked, she suggested the fair field, then canceled my reservation herself. When I asked to speak with the manager above her, she basically said no, he’d tell me the same thing. It was embarrassing, and she made us feel like we didn’t belong. We ended up driving around a town we didn’t know, looking for somewhere to stay on my Sister’s birthday. She could have handled the situation better.
