Part of the popcorn ceiling came down onto me in the bathroom around 2 AM, while I was brushing my teeth after a shower. I’d checked in shortly after 1 AM. I called the front desk right away and took a video of the damage. They offered another room, but I’d already unpacked and settled in, so at that hour I asked for a full refund because the room felt unsafe. I spoke in person with someone who said he was the owner. He wouldn’t look at the video, denied the refund, and argued instead of taking seriously that a ceiling had fallen on a guest. I was also dealing with several pending holds on my debit card after being told the deposit would be only $50. Maintenance issues can happen. What made this especially unacceptable was the way the situation was handled afterward.

Parking was free, which is hard to find this close to downtown, though spaces were limited. The hotel is right by the highway, but I didn’t have trouble with noise. Breakfast was decent, with sausage, eggs, potatoes, cereal, pastries, yogurt, waffles, juice, and coffee. There’s an odd urinal smell near the windows in the breakfast area, but it fades as you get closer to the food. The morning staff were nicer than the evening staff. When I came back late, the man working insisted I show my ID before he’d let me go to my room. I’d understand that during check-in, but I’d never had a hotel ask to see my license just to return to my room, and it made me wonder about crime in the area. The bathroom ceiling was crumbling, and there was dirt in every corner. I thought the bed linens at least were clean, until I checked the pillows on the side I hadn’t slept on before checkout. There was debris there, including clipped nails. I’ll be checking hotel bedding more carefully from now on.

We arrived around midnight with our 7-month-old, who was asleep after a long day of driving and time at the zoo. The room was disgusting, and the customer service was horrible. Once we saw the condition, we didn’t want to wake the baby and move in the middle of the night. We raised our concerns with the manager the next morning, but they were rude and offered no help at all. Extremely disappointing.

Terisa was so pleasant and sincere on my first stay, and Kenny is wonderful too. I’m here for a week each month now, and they know me by name. They’re both really friendly and helpful, and treat me like family. ❤️
