Genes Motel

The AC unit was so loud it kept me awake, and the refrigerator wouldn't get cold. The room felt stuffy, and the bed linens were dirty. I had to wait for clean sheets, then make the bed myself. I kept the room clean because nobody came by to ask if we needed anything. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The man at the office checked us in quickly and was kind. We got to room 212 at 2 am after a 6.5-hour drive, asking for a non-smoking room, and it was clean and nice. But as soon as we walked in, it smelled of cigarettes. When we parked, a woman came out of the ground-floor room at the far left and said we couldn't park there because it was her spot and her car was in the shop. I told her it was 2 am and we just wanted to sleep, and that we'd be gone by 10 am. She told my husband it was fine, then changed her mind and insisted we move the car. We ended up moving it.

We stayed here while work was being done on our condo. The place was clean, and the innkeeper and his wife were both very nice. Housekeeping was very nice too.

The location was really convenient, with lots of convenience stores nearby, though I don't think any are a short walk away. The room was a decent size and had a mini fridge. The air conditioning worked well, and the shower knob was easy to use and gave good control over the water temperature, though the bathroom needed quite a bit of repair. There were lots of hotel movie channels. It's a two-story place with no elevator, and you have to go to the desk for ice. I paid just under $100 a night. It has promise.
