Fels Three Crown Motel

I was traveling for a concert and tried to find a cheaper room for the night. I wish I hadn’t wasted the time driving out to this small, uncomfortable-feeling place. We had to knock and wait outside the office for far too long. The man at the desk was okay, about as okay as the rest of the place. The room itself was small, as expected, but what I found underneath the bed was the problem: bed bugs everywhere, including babies crawling around and what looked like hatching spots. It was disgusting. I told the office I couldn’t stay there with my daughter. When I asked for a refund, despite having paid extra for coverage, I was told I wouldn’t get one. That was $150 gone on an unlucky gamble.

We booked at the last minute for a concert at Darien lake after everywhere else around town was full. The guy at the office was friendly, and the room was mostly clean. The glass and mirrors needed a proper deep clean, and there was a slightly strange smell. But the air conditioner was cold, the water hot, and the bed comfortable. I can’t say much bad about the place.

We just needed somewhere to sleep, and for the price and location this worked out comfortably. The large beds were comfortable and made up with nice, fresh sheets, blankets, and comforters. My windows were new and easy to open and lock. The shower was tiny, but the showerhead was great. The wall heater looked older than I am, though it did work. The room could have used dusting and the carpet a good vacuum, but I could overlook that as part of the motel charm.

We booked based only on price since we needed a bed after an event at Highmark Stadium. The location was convenient, the rate was great compared with nearby hotels, and the staff were pleasant. The place was very clean, bright, and refreshed, with a nice fridge and microwave. We’ll stay again.
