The Lofts at the Five & Dime

Miss Celia was so lovely to talk with, and the loft had everything we needed. The decor was just right, and the exposed walls and modern look in the common area made us excited as soon as we walked in. The Lofts at the Five & Dime made our time in Clarksdale comfortable and fun. Thanks for hosting us!

For $150 a night, I expected the place to be spotless and well cared for. It was decent, with plenty of space and amenities, a convenient location, and it was comfortable, but it felt more like a hit-or-miss Airbnb. There were a lot of things that seemed unfinished or neglected: wet towels left in the washer-dryer, scratched and rust-spotted decor, scuffed walls covered with tape, broken furniture, a cracked toilet, and holes where fixtures had been removed. A large ceiling tile was coming loose with moldy insulation hanging out, and water damage ran along the ceiling edges around the walls. I'm not saying don't stay, but for this price, they could maintain the place better, especially in Clarksdale.

The units have lots of space, feel pretty modern, and are centrally located, though they were a little run down. I texted about a concern during my stay and got no response. I never saw another person, though it was a Tuesday. I was glad I stayed just one night. Plan ahead, since Clarksdale is pretty dead on Monday and Tuesday nights.

The loft was much more spacious and beautiful than I expected, and it was clean and convenient too. I grew up in Clarksdale, but my family has moved away, so finding a place to stay when I come back for an event can be hard. This was my first time trying the loft, and I’d happily recommend it.
