Home2 Suites by Hilton San Antonio Airport

The room and service were awful. The AC stayed above 70°F even after I reported it, and although I was told an engineer would come, it was never fixed and no one updated me. The shower door was off its track, housekeeping left a garbage bag on the bathroom counter, and my digital key stopped working on day two. It took four trips to the desk, two resets, and two key cards to sort that out. The one bright spot, besides the location about seven minutes from the AP, was the lovely woman running the breakfast buffet. She was a shining star.

The staff were friendly, and I felt bad for them, but this place fell far below what I expect from Home2suites. Breakfast was cold, apparently because they don’t have warmers, and the coffee setup had only coffee and half-and-half, no creamer or hot chocolate. They also charge for parking, the washer, and the dryer. I can’t see why parking costs $10. It feels like a very cheap hotel, and I suspect the owner is stingy. Go somewhere else and save your money.

The stay was comfortable, but the breakfast was much more limited than at other Home2 Suites, and the hair dryer didn’t work. I chose a room in the app and was told it wasn’t available, without a valid reason. When I asked for a second key, they seemed very reluctant to give me one.

I was told I needed to reserve the airport shuttle, so I paid for an Uber to the hotel. Once I arrived, the desk clerk said she’d made a mistake and could have called a shuttle because I already had a room booked. Then my room had no shampoo. When I asked at the desk, she said she didn’t know how long it would take because the maintenance man was somewhere and didn’t speak English. She ended up handing me nearly empty bottles from the recycling bin. This place was terribly run.
