Hampton Inn Louisville-North/Clarksville

The reservation itself was easy to make by phone for two rooms for February 7th to February 8th. The trouble started when we arrived. It had accidentally been made under my father-in-law's name, and despite showing my email confirmation and the card used to book, the employee nearly refused to let me into the rooms. She was extremely rude, to the point that it felt almost racist toward me and my family. After she finally gave me the keys, I went out and came back with the rest of my family and our pets. She was rude to them too, then let us in while saying there was an extra pet fee. We already knew about that charge when we booked and had paid it. Even though she'd handed me both room keys just two minutes earlier, she asked which rooms I was staying in, apparently to check whether we'd paid the pet fee. Whoever was in charge then showed no understanding of customer service. Her dismissive behavior also made it clear she didn't understand that people shouldn't be treated differently because of their race.

After a long drive, I decided to stay despite being wary from the reviews. It's an older-style place, but it was clean, pleasant, and quiet. Prices were good, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

It's a smaller Hampton, but a nice one. The day and evening crews were both attentive, friendly, and fantastic. The kitchen attendant was great too, keeping everything hot, organized, and stocked. Good location and fair for the price.

We spent two months here after losing our home temporarily because of circumstances we couldn't control. We were told we could stay as long as we paid, and we did pay, but our family was treated terribly. I'm a struggling single mom of six, though only four of my kids were staying with me at the hotel. We had our own bags, vacuum, and cleaning supplies, and I kept the room as well as I could. At first they told us we'd be safe and that the hotel would feel like home while we were going through a hard time. That wasn't how it turned out. Staff rolled their eyes at my young children, ignored our good mornings, and acted like the kids were a nuisance. Housekeeping never came when we asked and made my children feel unwanted. After we'd been there three weeks, the owner or general manager was just as unpleasant and kept warning us we wouldn't be able to book because they'd booked our room to make us leave. During a snowstorm, they threatened to put us out in below-freezing weather, again saying our occupied room had been double-booked. We're paying customers like anyone else, and it was heartbreaking to be treated so unkindly during such a difficult stretch of family life. The one bright spot was debbie, the older lady with glasses at the front desk, who was always sweet and welcoming to us. Breakfast was good, but the older women working it were nasty, never smiling or speaking even when we spoke first.
