The Sunnyside Sisters Bed and Breakfast

We’d never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, since they’re less common where we live out of state. Then we had to stay in town at the last minute over Thanksgiving weekend last month, and my father booked us a night here. Martijn welcomed us warmly, was so kind, and even helped with our luggage. The hospitality was top-tier, and our room had so much history and class. Breakfast was homemade and delicious, with Dutch dishes as well as stories and fun facts about Dutch culture. I have a dairy allergy and other dietary restrictions, and they were very understanding. They remembered and made a course just for me. Everything tasted fresh, and I felt really cared for as a guest. We felt at home enough to stay a second night. We’ll definitely stay here from now on.

I had a fresh cup of coffee outside in a rocking chair while reading early in the morning. Then I dragged my husband out of bed for an authentic, delicious Dutch breakfast, with organic Dutch cheese and homemade organic bread, plus a farm-fresh egg and cheese soufflé, fresh-squeezed OJ, fruit, yogurt, granola, and lots of thoughtful touches throughout our stay. The property is peaceful and charming, with a fascinating history. The owner greeted us when we arrived and was kind and informative. It made for a lovely, unique getaway from Raleigh, just right for unwinding and recharging.

We really enjoyed the authentic Netherlands breakfast, and Martin was charming and fun to talk with. It’s a lovely historic country bed and breakfast, with modern facilities that still suit the place. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The host was wonderful, and the historic building has spacious rooms and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was fantastic, and breakfast was great.
