OMEO Clearlake oaks

The cabin’s only bed was a single 140 cm one, despite what the description said. Everything inside was dirty. The floor seemed not to have been properly washed in years, my shoes stuck to it, there were dirt marks everywhere, and the place smelled bad and was moldy. The odor kept me awake, and I had to wash my slippers when I left because the rinse water was very black. The fishing cabin was filthy and felt abandoned. Outside was just as neglected. The lakeside setting could be lovely, but the grounds were dirty and poorly maintained, with dog poop on the grass. We didn’t dare sit on the chairs. Water leaked from the first floor onto the door and flooded the terrace, and nobody wanted to deal with it. The cabins are very old, too. I was in wooden cabin number 8 on the ground floor, and the tenant upstairs seemed to walk like the devil because the ceiling was so thin and noisy. The name has changed from Blue fish cove, but its old signs are still there, and from the road it’s impossible to tell where the place is because there’s no indication. The manager doesn’t do anything. Her young children changed the sheets, and that was it. She said there was a new owner, but everything seemed abandoned. Reception was so dirty that check-in happened through the window. It felt like a very poor country, yet we paid almost a hundred dollars. I’ll never go back.

You can stay right on Clear Lakes for a reasonable price, with docks and a boat launch ramp. There’s also a small boathouse on the pier with a fireplace. The place could use some maintenance, and it’s rustic, so it may not suit you if you’re used to bougie accommodations. I’d recommend it if that doesn’t bother you.

Unit 8 gave me the day away from city life I was looking for. My lady and I had the best one-night stay right by the lake, and I caught four fish from the bank and dock. The new owners were super nice, and our little home was clean and well kept.

The cottage was neat and clean, and I already miss this beautiful resort on the lake. There’s a pier and boathouse where you can fish, and I saw someone catch some huge fish. You can launch your boat there too. It’s in the best location, right on the water. I can’t wait to come back in December.
