Thorn Hill Vineyards Villa Suite

Thorn Hill Vineyard Villas felt like a little sanctuary. I felt safe, and the quiet from the other guests added to the peaceful atmosphere. The villas are tucked behind a beautiful wrought iron fence on a remote vineyard in the Clearlake/Lower Lake area, with tall trees, lavender gardens, walking paths, and outdoor patios. They don’t have things like a gym, EV charging, or a pool, but there were thoughtful food and snack provisions, plus weekend wine tastings. My experience was exceptional, a serene escape from the hustle and bustle.

We were close to the wedding we were attending, but this would be a lovely getaway too. The bed was quiet and comfy, and the stay was excellent for the price. We had a complimentary tasting before leaving, and I’m sipping a lovely Reserve Volcanic Rock Cab I picked up. Communication and hospitality were excellent. Only wish we could’ve stayed another night. Thank you.

The amenities were beautiful and comfortable, and the service was great. The staff knew their wine, and the wine was really good.

The gate was frustrating to deal with. You have to open and close it yourself, and I spent nearly 10 minutes trying to line up the holes to put the lock back on, but couldn’t manage it. I told the woman who checked me in, and she said nobody ever tries to close the gate. If the gate is troublesome, why not tell guests up front not to worry about locking it? I think you should lock a gate behind you if you’ve gone through a locked gate. I’m handicapped, and while I was dealing with selling everything in my home and selling the home itself, I forgot to check for an accessible room when I made the reservation. I called the woman who checks guests in and asked about one. She said none were available. When I explained that getting into a tub to shower was my main issue, she said there was a room with a shower and that she’d call back to tell me whether it was available. About 15 minutes later, she called and said I could move. I later learned no other rooms were booked and I was the only guest. Maybe she had to get approval from someone, but why not just say so? I also found out later that they don’t have accessible rooms at all. Again, why not just say that? The breakfast was another problem. They expect you to cook your own, but putting raw eggs in a fridge with a couple of muffins doesn’t make a continental breakfast. I know they’ve had great reviews from other people, but I really can’t give them a decent one. The whole interaction felt pretty shady, and I’d never recommend this place. When I told her I wouldn’t give a good review, she said I should be really happy she upgraded my room at no extra charge. Once again, I was the only guest there!
