The Saddlery Madison Downtown

We stayed here to help our adult child recover after an organ donation at UW Health, and the managers worked with us to shift our dates without a penalty as the transplant procedure schedule changed. The timing was uncertain, so that flexibility meant a lot. Management was friendly, responsive, and quick to help. Their text-based way of communicating is a clever model. The location was great, and the rooms were clean and nicely furnished. We’ll be back.

We stayed in a lovely, spacious loft with a lake view. It felt homey and had a king bed in its own room, plus a living room and kitchenette. We hit a couple of snags because of an unfortunate incident with Cloudbeds, but the Saddlery staff were great and accommodating as they sorted things out. You need a pass key to enter at every entry point, so keep an eye on your emails and texts for that information. It’s a great little place for either a short or long stay.

The lake view gave the whole stay a peaceful feel, and the king bedroom was a comfortable place to unwind. I booked the one-bedroom King Suite, which felt more like an upscale condo than a standard hotel room. There was plenty of space, plus a full kitchen that made cooking easy and an en suite office that worked well for remote work. Having a washer and dryer inside the unit was a big help, whether staying briefly or for longer. Saddlery Madison made a convenient, private home away from home, and I’d happily return.

We could get to the farmers market, restaurants, State Street shops, and the UW on foot in just a few minutes, but the hotel felt quiet once we were back. The rooms were modern and nicely decorated, and the place was spotless, with everything in good working order. There’s a full fitness center and a rooftop deck with lovely Lake Monona views. Sam and the rest of the staff were friendly and easy to reach whenever we needed anything. We were really happy with the location and facilities, and would come back for either a work trip or a vacation.
