La Quinta Inn & Suites Cleburne

The front desk gentleman was friendly at check-in, and his suggestion to get supper next door at Grumps was spot on. The hotel looked okay from outside, but seemed more run down than other La Quintas I’ve stayed at. The room was similarly just okay, though it served its purpose. Breakfast was about as disappointing as it gets.

The staff were super nice, but the hallways were in bad shape and the elevator smelled horrible at one point. Even my 4 year old called it a dirty hotel. The rooms themselves weren’t dirty, though. Breakfast was a letdown: I knew what continental meant, but they ran out of coffee after a couple of hours, and one morning the muffins were still frozen. When I got there halfway through breakfast, there were only a couple slices of bread left. I wasn’t expecting eggs, but they weren’t keeping things stocked. It comes across like the owners are really cheap, and the minor repairs and breakfast already show it. This may be the worst La Quinta I’ve stayed at and doesn’t live up to the brand.

The friendly, helpful guy who checked us in was great, but the room was a letdown. We came for business and, for the price and cleanliness, probably won’t return. The towels looked old and not very white, the pillows were flat, and the elevator was extremely dirty. Breakfast was pretty sad even though I went down early. The place needs some TLC.

The room was clean, and that’s about the only thing going for it. The mattress was so stiff that I got maybe four hours of sleep before waking with lower back pain. The television was tiny. Water pressure in the shower was decent, at least. I’m pretty sure I saw mold in the bathroom’s top corner too.
