Quality Inn Holland - Toledo

For a good night's sleep in the Toledo area, this has become my go-to place. I tried this budget inn after a bad night at one of the big chains, and I'm glad I did. The rooms have always been clean and, most of all, very quiet. For the price, I'd call it exceptional. The receptionists, Mini and Tina, have been outstanding. I'm greeted with a smile no matter when I check in. I haven't tried breakfast, so I can't say much about it. This is a budget inn, so don't expect a luxury resort, but I can confidently recommend it for a peaceful night.

There's plenty of shopping and places to eat nearby, and I've had a great experience here. The customer service is really good, and I feel like family. Housekeeping keeps things up and cleans the rooms thoroughly. They also have a good breakfast selection.

I was in a freezing room with no heat while writing this. I'd give the Quality Inn of Holland, Ohio three stars, and honestly that's generous. I was alone, with no kids or pets. Check-in was around 1am, and I wasn't sure who was running the desk. They charged an initial $60.00 deposit on my card, which Priceline hadn't mentioned. No one explained whether I'd get it back, and when I asked for a receipt, nothing was said. I don't know if the deposit will be returned. The parking lot didn't feel secure. People were sleeping in cars, and there were people hanging out with their brothas in the lot in the middle of the morning. On the third floor, the elevator made a sound like two dolphins making out whenever its doors opened, going up or down. The hallway was hot, sweaty, and smelled terrible, like someone cooking African beans or something. After my long drive, I felt knocked out and could barely see straight trying to find my room. People were hanging around in the hall too, like it was a college frat house. In room 323 I slept okay, but the soap on the sheets made me itch terribly, or maybe the linen had fleas because it's a pet-friendly hotel. The heater shut off during the night and I couldn't get it going again, so I froze. The vent cover was missing, and there was dried crud and dust in the vents. I left for the day, then called the front desk and told MINI about it. She was cool and asked me to come down and switch rooms, so I packed all my files, laptop, clothes, and everything else. MINI went out of her way to find me another room, so she gets three stars for the effort. Room 319 was cleaner, but its heater also came on and then shut off. Sometimes the fan worked and sometimes it didn't, like Russian Roulette. I called MINI again. She said, “NO SIR THE HEATER WORKS.” I wouldn't have called at midnight if it worked. It was cold, the old windows let in drafts, and I needed to sleep. I was mad and hung up. She called back and asked me to come downstairs AGAIN to switch rooms. I couldn't face packing up everything again and taking another chance on a faulty heater. I bundled up and counted the hours until checkout, freezing through the night. A terrible experience. I won't say much about breakfast. They did have eggs, though maybe from a chicken from Temu, who knows. The juice was the cheapest stuff, tasted like jet fuel, and seemed like it was from World War II. I'd rather drink water. The staff seemed nice, but the hotel needs better management, especially making sure the maintenance worker gets the heat working before guests freeze. If they don't refund my deposit, I'll post the pictures and videos I documented and update this review.

I'm happy with the staff. They're very polite and serve a good breakfast, and the room was nice and comfortable. Tina is really nice and has a great personality, and Suma is very nice too. I stay here a lot and don't go to any other hotels. Thanks again for being so kind.
