The rooms had been renovated and were okay, but the breakfast area was dirty every time. The window tables had lots of old crumbs and other leftovers, seemingly from ages ago. After a cleaning-related incident, the night receptionist asked me to apologize, even though we routinely cleaned the breakfast table before sitting down. The only positive I can say about the incident is that he was quite polite to my wife after I had left.

Last night the employee named Shi was completely out of line and should be fired. I checked in with a friendly man from Illinois and, as a diamond member, was told I could check out at 12. At 11:15, Shi started pounding on my door and, without any prompting, threatened to call the police if I didn't leave immediately. I phoned the front desk to ask for a manager, but Shi answered, said there was no manager available, and hung up. That deserves serious consequences. I left without showering to avoid another confrontation. Don't stay here.

We booked for Valentine's night, but when we arrived they said we weren't allowed to stay because we lived within 50 miles. They canceled the reservation, and at 11 p.m. we had to look for another room. This should be stated on the site if they won't accept bookings from people who live that close. I was even willing to pay a deposit. It was a lot of hassle, and I think the policy is BS.

The night shift were really friendly and concerned about the problems we had. The day staff seemed not to care at all. For the price they charged, I expected hot water, working faucets, and toilet seats that weren't broken. It was Clemson move-in week, and it felt like they were taking advantage of everyone. The building could be nice if the owners put some of those exorbitant rates back into it.

We ended up driving two hours home without a refund. Someone said the manager they were speaking with would call us in the morning, but the room and the whole experience were disgusting. I booked the Days Inn in Clemson through American Express Travel for the savanna bananas game, paying $300 a night. I expected basic cleanliness and service. Instead, there was fresh urine on the bed, not just a stain. When I told the front desk, there was no urgency or apology, and they offered no real help or another room. I was left dealing with an unsanitary room on my own. This was completely unacceptable. The lack of care was shocking, and I trusted the brand and American Express to vet partners better. Avoid this location.
