Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Clermont

The rooms smelled awful, first like urine, then like an old musty rag after I was moved. They said they were sold out, so I couldn't try another room, though I suspect it would've been the same. The decor badly needs updating and feels like generation one from back in the day. The lobby smelled too, and there were leaks. At check-in, another guest told the desk agent about a leak above the speaker by the elevator. She thanked them, then asked them to check behind their TV for a gold make up case a previous guest had reported missing, and to bring it down if they found it. If housekeeping had inspected thoroughly, the rooms wouldn't smell and look this way. When was the last time a Marriott auditor checked this hotel? It shouldn't be a Marriott. The area will welcome the Towneplace once it's built, with a fresh, comfortable, clean hotel in Clermont. Don't stay here if you want clean, quality, comfortable accommodation. 🤮

It's conveniently located, but this was my first and last stay. I expected more from a Marriott property, and this hotel is way overpriced for what it offers. The front desk staff were nice, but the room was outdated, the curtains had rips, and the bed was uncomfortable.

We went to bed tired at 10 p.m., then spotted a cockroach running over my CPAP machine. That was the final straw, so we unpacked all our bags to make sure none would come home with us. The bathtub was peeling, and the parts that weren't peeling were stained brown. No shower here, yuk. There was mold around the top of the sink where the bowl met the countertop, the box spring was dilapidated and falling to the floor across the whole front, and the furniture was worn out. When I asked to change rooms, the front desk said they weren't sure other rooms would be better and that the property would be redone in the next couple of months. I reported the roach, but the staff member seemed more upset that we were leaving than about the completely unacceptable room. We contacted Marriott customer service and got a reply from the hotel manager saying cockroaches come sometimes and this is Florida. Sorry, but with pest control, you shouldn't see unwanted pests in the building. It seems that service has been neglected along with the rest of the property. This hotel should be shut down and reopened after the makeover and the start of pest control services. What a way to spend my vacation and hard-earned money. This happened in February 2026.

That's why I recommend Marriott hotels, and this Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites in Clermont is no exception. It's a great place to stay, with outstanding service.
