Studio 6 Lenexa, Ks – Overland Park

The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. The place was very nice and clean, with a full-size fridge and a two-burner stove, so it seems great for a longer stay. I was only there one night to visit a nearby relative, and I would've appreciated a cookie or something with my coffee. It's especially safe and clean, and I'd certainly recommend it.

Our room had a comfortable bed, a full-size fridge, and a microwave. There was also a two-burner stove, though you'd need to bring pans and utensils. No carpet in our room, just vinyl plank flooring, so there were no odd smells or stains to worry about. The lot was well lit and felt safe when I went outside around midnight to smoke. The building itself is non-smoking. We stayed for a weekend trip to Kansas Speedway. The hotel is about a 20-minute drive south of the track and was a much better value than motels nearby. It was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Getting to the interstate was easy, and there's a QT gas station across the street. The commercial area was quiet over the weekend, then came alive on Monday morning, including the station. It's pet friendly, and we did see dogs, so keep that in mind if you have allergies or don't like dogs. There aren't food options close by, but about 10 minutes down 95th there's a big variety.

Housekeeping works like it often does at extended-stay hotels: they don't clean every day, but clean towels are available at the front desk whenever you need them. At checkout, they give you a receipt and refund your $100 deposit. For the price, room amenities, location, and friendly staff, I'd give this place a 5. Parking is plentiful. It's a short walk to the QuikTrip gas station, near Lackman Road and the Olathe, Park, and Lenexa main roads and highways, and about 20 minutes from downtown KC, Missouri. The queen room is clean and has a kitchenette with a full-size fridge, large microwave, two electric glass-top burners, sink, single-serve coffee maker, and toaster. You can pick up bowls, plates, and utensils from the supply counters in what seems to have been the breakfast area. Now it's just a seating space with a TV monitor on all the time. Sometimes food smells from other guests' cooking linger in the hallway for days. There's a laundry room with what look like roomy washers and dryers. Each load costs $2. The small exercise room has a couple of treadmills, elliptical machines, dumbbells, and a water cooler.

The hallway had a stomach-turning smell, and the room was hot and reeked of fish, curry, and secondhand smoke. I left the window open all night, but it barely helped. The whole place felt dark and dirty, and I couldn't get out fast enough. I wish I could go back and choose a different reservation. The man who checked me in seemed high on something.
