Cleveland Airport Marriott

With the hotel lacking facilities, I was better off spending the day at the airport than in a quiet room. My flight wasn't until 6 PM because of the heavy travel disruption after Spirit Airlines went out of business. I arrived late after being driven from Akron airport because my flight had been canceled. Nobody was at the front desk for half an hour. Around 12:30 AM I finally got a room key, but it didn't work. The young clerk reprogrammed it after I came back, without even apologizing. When I asked about the airport shuttle, I was told, “I'm sorry, our shuttle was broken.” The pool and hot tub were both out of service, and in the morning I was told the kitchen was closed, so there was nowhere to eat. Very disappointing.

We went for Christmas mainly because the hotel had an indoor pool, but it turned out to be closed for maintenance during our visit. They hadn't mentioned that when I called a month earlier, after Thanksgiving, to request ground-floor rooms because we were traveling with my autistic grandson. Instead, they put us on two different floors. Two rooms had toilets that wouldn't flush properly, and the TV in the third room didn't work. Christmas was pretty much ruined, so we stayed one night instead of the two I'd booked. They didn't refund me for the unused night.

The shuttle was timely, and when I returned the driver was at the airport in under five minutes. He was extremely kind, courteous, and friendly on both trips. My car was parked there for nine days without any problems. We used the lot while flying out of Cleveland Hopkins, but didn't stay at the hotel. Parking cost $64, half the $126 we would have paid at regular off-airport parking. The lot looked run down and didn't feel secure, though they block the entrances at night to protect parked cars. The shuttle van was also worn and not very clean.

The hallway smelled really bad, like there was a curry party going on. My room was messy, and the beds didn't look clean. The sheets all seemed to have been reused. When I contacted the front desk, they said they were short-staffed. I wouldn't stay here again. La Quinta across the street is much better.
