Red Roof Inn & Suites Cleveland

The neighborhood around the hotel felt sketchy and unsafe, and I wouldn't recommend staying here, especially with kids or if you need somewhere comfortable and reliable. The room was a letdown, and even getting the door open took a trick that the friendly front desk guy had to show us. It required cat-like reflexes to get the timing right. There were visible brown stains on the bedspread, a broken bathroom vent fan, and a TV that looked about 15 years old. The room had been cleaned, but it seemed the person doing it had good intentions and limited resources. No carpeting was at least a small mercy given the rest of the condition. The front desk guy was super friendly, someone you'd enjoy grabbing a beer with, but his charm couldn't make up for not seeming to know how to handle a job that needs efficiency and know-how. Asking him for help felt like asking another guest, and that set the tone for the stay. People may be trying their best here, but the facilities and location leave a lot to be desired. I wouldn't spend significant time here.

It's 2 in the morning, I'm a truck driver and out of drive time, so I'm stuck here and don't feel like chasing a refund. For $76, I had a better stay at a Super 8. I don't recommend this place, and the doors people complained about four years ago still haven't been fixed. The room was falling apart. The flooring was messed up, the bed was uncomfortable, and two pillows had yellow stains while only two didn't. You could see where mold in the room had been painted over. The shower was also crumbling and moldy. There weren't any towels, just washcloths, and even without the mold I wouldn't have enjoyed it. The bathroom light kept flickering. I'm honestly scared to sleep in this bed.

The parking spaces are tight, so don't park beside another car if you have a slightly larger vehicle. We stopped overnight on our way to Indiana. The night receptionist took too long to greet us, then assigned us a room that already had a guest in it. Seriously, how could they not know? Our actual room looked clean, but there was a faint smell, maybe urine, and mold on the shower curtain.

The front desk staff were very nice and the location is great, but I can't recommend this place. Our room was run down and not as clean as it should've been, and the night was pretty noisy. The shower was so moldy that I asked the desk for cleaning supplies. I wasn't going to let my family shower in all that gross mildew, mold, or whatever it was. The showerhead holes were filled with mold too. They don't clean the way they should, and the picture doesn't do it justice.
