TownePlace Suites by Marriott Cleveland

I’ve been here for three weeks so far, and Misty has been consistently working all night to keep things clean and tidy. I don’t sleep well, so I’ve seen how busy she is. By the time the day shift comes in, the lobby and serving area are immaculate. She always seems happy, too. She deserves special recognition. Amazing!

Breakfast has gone downhill. It used to be good, with egg fajitas most days, but now there aren’t meat options except a few days a week, and the food is mostly cheap, unhealthy carbs. I’ve stayed at this motel for five years, but it’s time to try the new place across the street. I hear their breakfast is great.

The standout for me was the staff. After my plans changed following the first night, I needed to switch from a king suite to two queen beds. Brett H. and Matthew B. sorted it out quickly and kindly, with no extra charge. As someone who travels often, I know that kind of flexibility isn’t always offered, even at pricier hotels. They turned what could’ve been stressful into an easy change. TownePlace Suites in Cleveland was a very pleasant stay, and I got a great rate on the king suite. The property was clean, with spacious rooms, a good fitness area with free weights, a pool, and a satisfying complimentary breakfast. Brett and Matthew really went above and beyond. Reviews often focus on the bad, so I wanted to give them credit for making this stay exceptional.

Our room worked fine for sleeping, and it seemed set up for longer stays, with a larger fridge, stove, dishes, and so on. For a night’s rest with no extra expectations, the hotel could work, but I thought the Marriott name would mean higher standards, and it fell short. Breakfast was highly lacking. Earlier reviews showed a decent spread with a waffle maker, but the maker was gone. They still had the batter machine, cups, spray, and syrup out. When I asked about it, I was told they didn’t have a waffle maker. By the time I returned with my phone to take pictures, the syrup had been removed. The breakfast sandwich was a soggy mess, the pre-made egg items looked disgusting, and the pan of potatoes looked like they might be recycled into tomorrow’s rotation. They seem to allow dogs, but people had dogs off leash in the hallway, which could make some guests uneasy. I’m not sure whether all rooms are alike.
