Holiday Inn Select Clinton

The beds were so uncomfortable that I woke up with back pain both mornings, and breakfast was struggling with the crowds. On both days the bar seemed understaffed, with food running out constantly. More staff and faster refills would help. Otherwise the hotel was very nice. The lobby looked gorgeous and made a great first impression, parking was ample, and my room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. The front desk staff were pleasant and quick to answer questions, and the club bartender was great and served us quickly. I'd definitely stay again.

Coming back to my hometown for a long overdue visit, I found the condition of one of the neighborhood's two affordable hotels disappointing, almost sad. The customer service was good and the rooms relatively clean. I didn't eat or drink there, and the indoor pool looked decent. But up close, it seemed like the property hadn't had maintenance or investment in a long time. The curtains were worn and had holes, some bulbs were out, the paint was cracked, and the furniture and decor hadn't been updated in years. The building exterior needs repairs. I know COVID has been hard on hotels, and since this place is so conveniently located near the town center, I hope it survives.

The rooms are a good size, and the regular management staff were very helpful. The restaurant was a different story: it felt disorganized, and employees were pushy. One person did nothing to help us, then asked my wife for a tip three times when she went to pay. She handled it better than I would have.

We had to find another hotel after arriving to find the lobby in confusion over a broken elevator, with people unable to locate their rooms or the stairs. Although check-in was supposed to be at 3, we got there at 3:15 and were told our room needed another hour. We had to be at a wedding at 4:30, so that wasn't workable. Someone in the lobby showed us photos of her dirty room and gross sheets, and we left. Worst hotel experience I've had. DO NOT STAY HERE. Never again!
