Auberge on The Vineyard

We came back for a third visit in August 2015 to celebrate our anniversary. The prices were great, the staff were great, and we plan to return again. It was already our second stay when we first wrote this: we were greeted with coffee or tea and gourmet blondie brownies, and Roxanne and her staff served a delicious three-course breakfast. Our room was lovely, and the countryside around the Auberge is beautiful, a relaxing place to get away and enjoy the vineyard scenery. Both my husband and I highly recommend it.

A heads-up if you book: one room has a private bathroom a few steps across the hall rather than an en-suite. It's roomy and private, but has no shower stall, so check the website details to see if that matters to you. Wineries and restaurants are nearby, though you'll need to drive rather than walk to them. That didn't change my five-star view of the Inn. Roxanne is a natural host, welcoming guests and sharing her experiences in a delightful way. Our room was charming and clean, even with a small TV, which I don't often see at B&Bs. The breakfasts were spectacular, and the whole staff was pleasant, helpful, and professional. I've stayed at many B&Bs, and Roxanne really went above and beyond to make this a memorable visit. I'd happily recommend the Inn for a wine country stay.

For our 20th anniversary, my wife and I spent a really fun, comfortable stay at Auberge on the Vineyard. Our room was spotless and much larger than I'd expected, and we had three excellent breakfasts, each one different, before heading out to explore wine country. Roxanne was a fantastic host, full of helpful ideas for activities and wineries. If you're planning several tastings, ask her about arranging a driver. The recommended local partner took us around Sonoma, and our driver was a very nice woman. It felt safe and was reasonably priced. Great food, weather, and accommodations in a lovely part of the country. I'd stay at Auberge on the Vineyard again.

We stayed in the Hermitage room upstairs in the main house. It was a good size, with a king bed and a huge bathroom with double sinks and a walk-in shower. The real highlight was the three-course breakfast each morning, absolutely delicious. Everyone was helpful with winery ideas and places to eat, and they even offered to carry our bags up the stairs. Hope we can return soon.
