Stardust Retreat

Shelley has thought of just about everything here, from toiletries and games to a kitchen stocked with what you might need and super comfy beds. The house itself is cute and unusual, with an amazing view. We loved the old record player and records, and there was even a big box of earplugs, which seemed especially thoughtful for anyone needing a break from a husband’s snoring. There was also a really cool Vegas bowling shirt in the closet. I asked Shelley if my husband could wear it into town, and she encouraged him to. So fun. We’ll always stay at the Stardust Retreat when we’re in town.

We were in town for a quick one-night business trip and had no issues during our stay. The loft has a beautiful mid-century modern look, with furniture and decor that feel true to the period. Shelley was a great host, and her clear, accurate communication made everything easy from start to finish. We’d stay again on a future trip.

When friends and family stay at Shelly’s Stardust Retreat properties, they always mention how quiet, clean, and comfortable they are. We’ve enjoyed them several times ourselves, and Shelly is an outstanding host. You’re close to Coleman’s amenities, including several high quality restaurants and shops. These places are our first choice when we have visitors in Coleman.

Booking and check-in and checkout were easy, and the bed was comfortable with clean linens. The room temperature was fine too. Still, I left early after only about seven or eight hours and probably wouldn’t stay again, especially since it cost more than a standard hotel nearby. I wanted to like the place, and the concept is a great idea, but this room didn’t seem to match its website photos and description. The driveway was in rough shape, the exterior light didn’t stay on long, and the dark neighborhood made that noticeable. There was an odd smell when I opened the door, maybe from old trash, though I was exhausted and tried to ignore it. Streaming on the small TV kept freezing, so I gave up. The daybed in front of it was uncomfortable and rickety, and the wall remote for the air conditioner didn’t work. The furniture felt random and not like the 50s or 60s style the site suggested. The bathroom seemed clean, but its thin office-like carpet was odd.
