Fairbanks Airport is only about 10 minutes away, and the room itself was cozy. But if you're coming in July, check the forecast first. There's no cold AC, just a ceiling fan and a Dyson-like floor fan that barely moves air even on High. It was humid on day one, and with 24-hour daylight the heat builds all day. Temperatures can run from 85 degrees down to 60 degrees, so the lack of AC took away from the stay for me. There was forest fire smoke somewhere in the area, and the smell had spread through Fairbanks and into our room. Opening the windows wasn't pleasant for sleeping. Aside from that outside smoke, this could be a comfortable, private, good-value choice, under $200 a night compared with pricier hotels. I think June, fall, or winter would make it an easy choice for a couple, even with a child. I didn't see pet accommodations, which was a plus for me. Pets and people sharing a bed doesn't appeal to me, though pet owners may call me cruel 🤣. The room had a microwave, Keurig Coffee Maker, mini refrigerator, large closet, and a parking spot for your vehicle. WiFi was very STRONG with good speeds. There's a large TV, but we didn't use it since we had WiFi and a cellphone. Towels, tolid paper rolls, hand soap, shampoo, and body wash were in the bathroom. Hot and cold water adjusted nicely and the pressure was very good, better than what many expensive hotels provide with their water-saving shower heads. Entry is by a programmed 4 digit passcode arranged with reservations when booking, for both the building's front door and your room. There's no key pickup or front desk check-in, so remember your four numbers. After entering the main hallway, turn the inside bolt on the building door, and do the same for your apartment door. For food and groceries, there's a Costco Wholesale, Savers supermarket, and other restaurants. You can bring groceries back to The Adamina and keep them in the mini refrigerator. Savers prices are high, so expect sticker shock. Book early, this place is always full. The Review Guru* Long Island NY🙋

The owners clearly take pride in The Adamina, from the signs asking guests to remove shoes at the main entrance to the ongoing improvements. During my week there, the owner let me know new thermostats were being installed in every room and suite, with a housekeeping staff member accompanying the HVAC tech to oversee the work and reassure guests. My room was spotless when I arrived, after an automated message explained how to get in. It wasn't one of the larger suites, but had plenty for one or two people to stay comfortably for a while: a remote-controlled Dyson floor fan as well as a ceiling fan, loveseat, microwave, refrigerator, and a dual coffee maker with drip and K-cup options. The decor was charming, the bed comfortable, and the towels were nicer than some I've had at 4-star hotels. Each side of the duplex has a porch with a chair and table, lovely for morning coffee. It's in a quiet neighborhood, close to the airport, about 13 minutes away, and near restaurants, grocery stores, and bars. I never felt unsafe, even during the day. Given local hotel prices, including Best Western, I'd be crazy not to stay at The Adamina next time I'm in Fairbanks.

Our host Dan was so accommodating, and the suites were close to restaurants, shopping, and more. My husband and I stayed in the Valdez suite, and later spent time with friends in the Denali suite. Both were exceptionally clean and comfortable, with comfy beds and all the basic amenities. The neighborhood was quiet, and the coat hooks were especially handy for layering up in winter. 10/10, would recommend.

We had a very nice room with two twin beds and a full kitchen. Check-in was self-serve: after booking ahead, we got an email the day before with instructions for entering the building and room. Parking is limited. There are only six rooms, and more than one vehicle per room would be a problem.

The Adamina was a comfortable, safe-feeling stay for my boyfriend and me from July 11-14. The neighborhood was lovely, and downtown was within walking distance. There are separate passcode locks for the building entrance and each room. We'd recommend it.
